The STEAM Program is a virtual program and happens three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. A designated Yazi Guide will provide you with the necessary meeting links and serve as your coach during the learning sessions.

The program includes a STEAM kit with all the materials and licenses required by the curriculum. Each participant is required to have their own personal computer/tablet to join the program.

Augmented reality brings learning to life and makes it more meaningful, engaging, and fun. When static images are superimposed into the world around students, they get a hands-on, interactive understanding of the concept they are learning. In this kit, students will begin to understand the power of augmented reality. Students will be exposed to an interactive 3D Solar System, bring their own colorings to life, and guide a robot by coding through a virtual maze. Creativity, wonder, and imagination will be fostered as students understand the overlay of fantasy and reality.

As Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technology infiltrate everyday life, we may not always recognize the ways these technologies are used to plan, map, and engage our communities. In the Woz ED Level II AR/VR Kit, students will investigate the ways that AR and VR are being used to plan and build bridges, visualize science, and engage citizens in community art projects. Students will enjoy discovering Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) as they develop skills with various devices and in software programs. They will dive into activities that immerse them in learning about science and technology. They will view and create content in AR and VR while exploring life on Earth, life in low Earth orbit on the ISS, and future life on Mars. Student learning will also expand as they investigate housing around the world, biodiversity, future life on distant worlds and more.

In this kit, students will experience the world of reality beyond what they see. They will learn how to experience virtual environments and how to create these experiences for others. Students will investigate the differences between augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) and what technology is available in each realm. Augmented reality technology takes a world that already exists and adds a layer on top which embellishes the real world or makes it more accessible. Virtual Reality, on the other hand, starts with a world that is created. These virtual worlds can be created from digital platforms or video and photography. At its core, virtual reality aims to transport people from the ‘real’ into the ‘virtual’ through a digital portal. When added to real-life objects, items on a map, or even combined with other machines, these experiences in AR and VR give us something called Mixed Reality. In this kit, students will use mobile devices, headsets, and computers to experience and create AR and VR experiences. Students will also get to use circuitry, programming, and real-world elements to see how AR and VR can go beyond the app and become authentic applications in the real world.
